Gun Owners Buying out Ammo

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/05/04/ammo.shortage/index.html

I never knew gun enthusiasts had any fear,i though the gun gave them some sort of power,i doubt Obama will take all their guns but taking them like taxing cigarettes is clever,i wonder what gun owners would do when all their ammo runs out,i know they ain't buying them up just for collecting bullets. its funny that those think that new legislation will violate the second amendment rights but i think its a result of abusing the use of their guns,if your a collector i can understand but who needs several types of guns and ammo in their homes?

  1. I never knew gun enthusiasts had any fear,i though the gun gave them some sort of powerI am aware of few firearms enthusiasts who assert that the possession of a firearm grants any specific or special "power". Can you explain the basis for your assertion?

,i doubt Obama will take all their guns but taking them like taxing cigarettes is cleverFirearms are already currently subject to federal taxes in addition to state-applied sales taxes. Why do you believe this to be "clever"?

,i wonder what gun owners would do when all their ammo runs out,Many may choose to hand-reload their ammunition, as it is far less costly than purchasing new ammunition.

i know they ain't buying them up just for collecting bullets. Why, then, do you believe that individuals are currently hoarding ammunition?

its funny that those think that new legislation will violate the second amendment rightsCan you explain what you find amusing with respect to such concerns?

but i think its a result of abusing the use of their guns,To what firearms abuse do you refer?

,if your a collector i can understand but who needs several types of guns and ammo in their homes?"Need" is not relevant, and there exists no requirement that a "need" for any type of firearm or ammunition be justified.

  2. Doesnt owning gun give everyone a sence of power? As fas as taking they raised taxes for cigaretts, the clever thing is since gun owners are buying up ammo like hot cakes hiking taxes on amo would help toward getting the country out of its courant debt. When the ammo runs out,dou you think obama will cease the making of ammo?Alot of gun owners believe the proposed legislation will hurt/take away the 2nd ammendment rights, that alone is funny. As far as abuse im talking about KILLING.There may be no requirement for the amount of guns, but there is no need for a substantial about of firearms, like no need for 20 different cars for one man,its just reduculous [not talking about collectors]

I derive no sense of "power" from any or all of the firearms that I possess. Perhaps you are projecting your own irrational perceptions of firearms ownership onto more rational individuals.

Any such tax revenue would likely be offset by a subsequent reduction in ammunition purchases; many firearms enthusiasts would curtail recreational target shooting or precision practice, and many others would resort to manual reloading of ammunition.

I do not believe that President Obama is in direct control of ammunition production. Additionally, many ammunition manufacturers have increased production rates; while ammunition is scarce due to hoarding and due to increased demand, more ammunition is being manufactured, thus there exists no evidence that supplies will actually "run out" in the near future.

Alot of gun owners believe the proposed legislation will hurt/take away the 2nd ammendment rights, that alone is funny.

There exit several proposals both in the federal legislature and in various state legislatures that would unduly infringe upon the right to keep and bear arms, though thus far few of these proposals have gained extensive support (with an exception being several entirely unreasonable restrictions approved by the New York state Assembly).

As far as abuse im talking about KILLING.

There exists no evidence that even a significant minority of the more than forty million firearms owners in the United States have engaged in such "abuse" as you have described it.

There may be no requirement for the amount of guns, but there is no need for a substantial about of firearms, like no need for 20 different cars for one man,its just reduculous [not talking about collectors]

That you find such a collection of firearms ridiculous is not relevant.
