As a young west Indian Canadian im surprised that this writer thinks braids are out of style and out dated he must be old,but the styles are changing, ever since Daddy rocked the Mohawk i see some the brothas rock them on the NBA scene to the grocery store. im not surprised that the nbs "white america" thinks braids baggy pants jewelery etc makes the nba look bad but that just goes to show you what little the different dempgraphics {not just white america} know about black youth and black people on a whole. Not just nba it reflects the whole north America too. These "fans" who take offense the the players wearing braids baggy pants or "hip hop gear" as many say watch to many bet and think think thats what black people are,and its obvious these demographics lack a black population, there is still segregation and racial hostility in this present time. The Afro isnt faded brades arnt,i don't see the Mohawk may not stick around for long, what bothers me is that the NBA made that dress code, itf it does make the nba look bad or bring trouble to the events, then its sad, that the fans misunderstood our swag, and believe it or not but not a lot of black people like gangster music, most of the artists out now are frauds.Hip Hop used to be the voice of oppressed black people rapping about inequality current events etc. I understand that a lot more youths of different decent are wearing "hip hop gear" so im sure the fans who really appreciate Allen Iverson and Carmello Anthony cutting their hair is the older demographic of different ethnicity. I hope the bigotry stops there, but i know the hatred and ignorance is being passed down, I used to live in the states, many rarely leave the state or out the country,so they don't know much about people other than their own. I wonder what they are going to say about twists and mini dreadlocks. There is a bigger issue behind the hair.
